it empties today of its strength"

The Return of Masses

It is with great joy that we are able to celebrate the Eucharist once again as a spiritual family.  If you are a parishioner, welcome home.  If you are new to Bethany, welcome home!  As a community, we know how important that Jesus remain central to our lives and so the mass must be central to our lives.

As the doors to public gatherings slowly open, we ask that everyone adhere to the guidelines that the Department of Public Health and the Governor’s Office advises.  Therefore we ask that when coming to mass you follow the guidelines so that all who come to Bethany may worship in a sense of calm and peace.

  1. For the foreseeable future, all masses will be held outdoors, so please dress accordingly.  Please understand, you must bring your own lawn chairs for mass.

  2. Please do not approach others to greet them or to converse with them.Rather, spend the time before mass to silently prepare yourself to offer worship.

  3. Unless you are a couple or living in the same household, please do not sit next to others so that social distancing may be maintained.

  4. We will not hold hands for the “Our Father.”

  5. The usual Bethany Sign of Peace will be waived.

  6. The chalice will be reserved for the celebrants alone.

  7. After mass, we are not allowed to have fellowship.

  8. People will not be able to gather in the rectory/home following mass.

  9. Please feel free to wear a mask during mass.

  10. Of course, if you do not feel well please stay home.

We thank you for your understanding and adherence to these guidelines so that we may begin and continue to worship as a community of faith.  We look forward to the time when these measures will no longer be needed.

Our first Sunday morning mass will be held at 9am on May 31st.  Our first Saturday evening mass will be held at 4pm on June 6th.

In the Peace of Jesus Christ,

+ Ray
